How much Canadian do I change over?

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Indonesia

My husband is travlling to JK at the end of this month for work and was wondering what is costs to be there for a day to eat etc.. in Canadian dollars? How much money do we get changed over before he leaves for a month? Is it cheap to be there or expensive? Where is the best pleace to change over Canadian $?

Is accommodation and transport provided by his employer or does he need to pay for these himself? This will obviously make a big difference on costs.

The best place to exchange money is at the moneychangers in most large shopping malls such as Plaza Indonesia and Mal Ambassador.

the costs depend on life style, food type, and transportation.

Very rough initial budget:

a. breakfast 30.000 IDR (you can buy stock for your self)
b. lunch (junk food) costs 25.000 up to 40.000 IDR
c. dinner 50.000 IDR

Accomodation is provided as well as transportation. Average food and maybe just odd things to do here and there when he is not working. If someone can let me know in Canadian $ as we are not too familiar with their currency.
Thanks Sabrina

Hi there,

Havent been to JK, but other major cities in Asia, and at most large airports, there are ATM machines. Otherwise, change a small amount before leaving, and use you creditcards for cash and expenses, so that you are not carrying a large amount. There are ATM machines everywhere.
