Hong Kong to Singapore, want to go this week for 3 day visit stay Geylang

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Singapore

Hi, I'm working in Hong Kong at moment, and my schedule has freed up midweek and considering going to Singapore for first time for three days Tues - Thurs night then fly back to Hong Kong where I must go back to work.

Any suggestions on most inexpensive way via air to get here, been told Air Asia and also Cebu Pacific, am told Cebu has stop midway going and coming in Phillipines to change planes which wouldn't mind avoiding

Thinking of staying in Geylang Rd area on East Coast side of Singapore, have been told 81hotels and ValueInns offer good value then heard negative things on rooms at Geyland Rd 81 hotel so wondering if anyone could verify, had better suggestions.

Thanks for your time.

air asia only flys to kuala lumpur so 6hrs by bus to singapore
i would not stay in the Geylang area try little india or bugis both are on the mrt subway line

You may want to check out budgets airlines Jetstar and Tiger for flights.

jetstar.

and the geylang area is quite sleazy at night. generally most budget hotels here are quite sleazy anyway. i would recommend carlton hotel in bugis area for good value 4 star hotel.

Geylang has a sleazy reputation but it's really colourful n the food's great! Lotsa famous food stalls along Geylang plus it's safe plus it's not too far from the central ( orchard,Esplanade). Many buses ply this route to town n it's only a short journey.

not to worry about geylang. its been asked before
do a keyword search on 'geylang' on this forum
it will throw up some results
