From "The Inncrowd" Website (Singapore Left Luggage facilty)

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Singapore

1 Each person leaving luggage will be asked to present some form of official identification, a valid airline ticket, and to leave a telephone number. Unless specifically requested when luggage is left, left luggage must be collected within 14 days. The left luggage docket must be presented when luggage is collected.

2 Sorry, no dangerous items, animals, spouse or bombs of any sort allowed.

Does that mean I have to leave my fascinating collection of bombs and the new wife in London? Does anyone know a way around this??

I'm trying to think what they wanted to say instead of spouse.

Had it not occurred to you guys that they were trying to be funny? The Inn Crowd, as its slightly cringe-worthy name suggests, is a very "with it" hostel, and perhaps a touch too "cooler than thou"... Sorry to disappoint you, boys, but I don't think this one is a one-for-the-scrapbook example of those aren't-they-cute? Asians with their funny English and silly ideas. In fact the joke was on you if you took it seriously...

Agree, definitely not one of the scrapbook examples. Comes nowhere near the mostly Chinese ones I've got over the years.

I wasn t asked for tickets, passports, phone-numbers when I dumped my luggage here 3 weeks ago. But actually I stumbled over their online-terms as well ;-). Its a safe place for left-luggage though, also for non-bombers..

In the unusual Singlish dialect bombs is how those in the rest of the English speaking world say "bums" (and vice versum...beware of the notorious "bum-boat" scam). "Spouse" is the singular of spice...which should be obvious from the reference "to any kinds". No animals are allowed because they already exist within the precincts...dangerous wild cats. Exceptions are made for small birds. "Dangerous items" is a reference to "durians" which is used as a bludgeon by the flocks of aunties during holiday season sales, hence the nickname "Singapore Sling". But the durian also emits gases banned by the Geneva protocols and is poisonous when consumed with alcohol..which makes it deadly at the Inn Crowd.
