I would like to fly to Manado from JKT, but...would like to get there alive!
Take an Indonesian airline to Manado. Crashes do occur, but they are rare. You have a far far greater chance of being killed in your car on a highway in your own country. | 1
what has flying to Manado got to do with EU banning all Indonesian Airlines? | 2
# 1 is saying that the reason that the EU banned all Indonesian airline flights to EU was (and is) because INDONESIAN AIRLINE PLANES ARE UNSAFE TO FLY. | 3
Your Choice, as in "Your money or your life??????" | 4
When I was there last year a plane from Surabaya to Manado fell out of the air. I took about a week to find and the owners (Adam air I think) wouldn't even get the plane out of the water or retrieve the 'black boxes' -- completely irresponsible I think. Even the Indonesian government has put them on the lowest level. Look here. Also here too. | 5
# 5: That is old news. But the number of people who have died in airlines crashes out of the total number of people who have flown on Indonesian domestic flights over the last several years is very very very small. The odds of being killed in such an air crash in Indonesia is far far less than being killed on the freeway or express way or super highway in your own country, so stop worrying about the issue and just take the plane. | 6
Mr S -- old news but still relevant -- the OP did not seem to know so I added it. Also he is probably going over the same route. Adam seem to have a habit of shady behavour. Personally I would not travel with Adam. The Indonesian government seems to be having some sort of a shake up -- may be there will be some improvment and some responsibility taken after that. | 7
I could be wrong, but I think that Adam Air lost its license to operate. I do remember that at least 4 Indonesian domestic carriers were stripped of their operating permits a few months ago. | 8
Mr S -- From memory, I believe Adam Air were put on the lowest level by the Indonesian Government (as I said before) in a rating of airlines along with several others. Level three were given three months for fix things up or be put out of business. This may be what you remember. A quick Google search shows little and they seem to be operating still judging by their web site. Also there is no information on the retrival of the black boxes even though they said they would retrieve them before the end of June. | 9
