entry to malaysia with american passport but...

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Malaysia

hello friends,
wandered if anyone here knows if it is possible to enter malaysia with an american passport that was issued in israel. i have a duel nationality. i was able to enter indonesia with no problems, even extend visa, but am not able to find an answer to this quetion.
thank you,
allon

I don't think it will be a problem.....they will see an American passport, and that is it.I had a passport issued in Japan but they didn't treat me as a Japanese.......

1

well.. diffrence is japan are allowed in malaysia, israelies are not. i know that they are more strict then indonesia.

2

Agree with #2. Malaysia is very anti Israel and are also stricter than Indonesia.
There is a good chance the immigration officer won't notice the place of issue, but you can't guarantee it. Also there may be a problem with the airline allowing you on the flight if you are flying in.

3

The point is that the place of issue has nothing to do with your nationality.

Malaysia doesn't ban people with Israel stamps. They ban people with Israeli passports (unles the Israeli has written permission from the Malaysian Government).

A US passport issued in Israel doesn't make you an Israeli.......

Apologies to the Thorntree moderators. I assume it was the swearword, or was it a negative comment about bumiputra?

Anyway, blame Uncle Mahatir for any woes you may have as he made it okay to ban Israelis.

6

I thought there wasn't such a thing as an American passport issued abroad any more since they are all sent back to USA for processing. It won't have it shown that it was from Israel.

7

first of all, i am israeli**** and very proud of it. not trying to hide it. truth is, malesia intrests me less then other countries around but i was thinking of meeting friends there.

any passport stats place of birth wich in my case is israel wich makes me isreali.

mr the sack monk, i have read your replay and agree with it. my problem is i want to cross the world, i want to see the diffrent coltures, i want to exprience the way of life and interactions with people who live diffrently then me. and! i want to see the world, nature wise, that god created for me to explore. no goverment or politics should be able to stop me walking gods green earth.

8

Well,if you are Israeli and not American, they won't let you in.(If the customs place know where your place of birth is,anyway..if it is a famous place like Jerusalem or Tel Aviv i guess they will know where it is)...unless you have a special written permission from the Malaysian government.

Like it or not, that is the situation in Malaysia..it is a muslim country, and they have their own reasons not to let Israelis enter.Whether you,i or anyone else on here agrees or disagrees with those rules is irrelevant....

9

well, i did not ask for anyone's opinion or mine. just thoughts on issue. to indonesia i can go in with my american passport even if it stats i was born in israel. i asked if anyone knows if it's same in malesia, couse i heard they are stricter.
you think it is irrelevant? ok. hope you expreince it for a while. it will always be relevant when peoople are restricted by nationality or belief or colour of skin. even if we cannot do anything about it.

10

And your question was answered (even if your OP was not clear).

If you are Israeli, you can't go in (without special permission)

If you are American, you can go in.Even with an Israeli stamp.

If you are an 'American' born in Israel, travelling on an American passport...it depends on whether they look at your place of birth and if the officials know that it is Israel or not.

11

BTW it is not the experience which is irrelevant..it is the opinion.Do you see the difference?

This is not supposed to be a political discussion, but a practical one.

Personally I would be extremely happy if everyone could go where they want, without the need for visas, special permits or anything else. That includes Israelis,Palestinians and all other people.......
