Chinese NY in Penang

Hi All

I'm struggling to find online where the events calendar is for Chinese New Year in Penang. I'm trying to work out the best time to visit, some people seem to say it is best to go a few days into the Chinese New Year, but I had originally planned to arrive on NYE.

Does anyone know when they do parade with the light up dragon etc? Or have any general suggestions/experiences of NY in Penang?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know about during CNY, but we were in Malacca a couple of weeks before then and they had a huge procession and a show where they brought the dragon through Chinatown.

Penang are strong on heritage - even their festivals are ancient history but, to start, you could look here..
