Cheapest flight Bali - Amsterdam

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Indonesia

Hi travelmates!

Anybody got any suggestions about the cheapest flight from Den Pasar (Bali) tot Amsterdam, somewhere at the end of august or the beginning of september?

Furtherrrrrmore, after 8 months of travelling we are looking for some beaches in Bali to 'chill out'. Kuta beach is a bit 'to much', anybody got a recommendation for another beach were there are enough nice things to do in the evening, but not as crowded as Kuta beach? If so, any good places to stay?

Thanks everybody!

Cheers!

the cheapest way to go bali - jakarta is with the indonesian budget airlines (about 40 US$ if you book a couple of weeks in advance - you can do this either over the phone or in jakarta or denpasar). from Jakarta on to Amsterdam just enter your dates in to ebookers.com, they'll give you the cheapest available, usually cathay pacific / qatar airlines i think.

Canggu has lots of nice beaches, great for surfing and 'chill out'. as for place to stay, check out: www.kharistavillas.com<BR>Agreed with EddyV, Cathay is good, though a little longer journey, because it is transit in Hongkong. Quatar or Emirates is good choice, because it is transit in the Mid-East. Another airline to consider, Thai airways.

cheapest way I did it was: Airasia: Bali-KL then take a train to BKK, and get a flight via middle east (can buy at Kao San Road or once you know which airline gives best deal, buy on internet).
Direct flights are expensive from BKK (China airlines being the cheapest- they sometimes have good deals) but flying to Dusseldorf with LTU can save you a lot of money, train connection with Amsterdam is very good.

For Bali I would recommend staying in the Kuta - Legian area if you want yellow sandy beach and nightlife, just go a bit up to the north (Seminyak) or south (towards airport) to be away from the Kuta scene.

If you want to chill out, there are many options Canggu is nice indeed but I prefer the northern coast, places like Amed: great snorkling, good food and perfect to relax, beach has pebbles though.

Kuta Lombok might also be a place to consider - some very good surf around and INFINITELY more tranquil and undeveloped than Kuta Bali. lombok is four hours on a ferry from Bali.

Quiet spots in Bali: I liked Padangbai a lot, and from there take the 5-hr Perama boat to the Gili islands for three tropical paradise style islands just off the coast of Lombok. Very relaxed, and so much nicer than Kuta/Bali. Kuta/Lombok is also quite nice, indeed, especially if you rent a motorbike to get to the surrounding beaches.
