I have searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to my question so here goes:

I am looking to stay in a "nice" hotel for my first few days of my first trip to Singapore. We will be arriving very late, after 24 hours of travel, in a place we've never been. Going to a nice hotel for a couple of days is a great way to recover from jet lag and a bit of culture shock.

By "nice" I don't mean extravagant, and I don't mean backpacker. I do want something on the higher end. In the US I can afford…

Hello all,

I'm going to spend 3-4 months travelling in SE Asia, starting from Singapore. I will bring an unlocked mobile phone handset with me and I'm planning to buy a SIM card in Singapore. Does anyone know any good Pay-As-You-Go deals that allows roaming with cheap prices (especially to neighbouring countries) and where I can buy one from?

Many thanks!

If you go to Alis Inn, Roberts Lane 23 in Littel India and stay at the dorm you might geht a lot of bed bug bites :)
Dorm should be one of the cheapest here, bed for 11 Singapore Dollars but I woul not recommend it ...

Unfortunately I do not know any better hostel here..

Do not go to Raffles for your Singapore Sling, go to Divine instead ( next to Raffels Hospital) it is a lot cooler

Hello all,

I'm planning to travel from Singapore to Thailand on land. I bought only a one-way ticket to Singapore and will be buying my return flight from Thailand. I wonder if this is a problem with the Singaporean immigration?
Has anybody entered Singapore recently without return ticket and did they ask for proof of onward travel? (I am British btw)

Thanks!

I need to send a present to someone in Singapore. I thought the easiest, quickest and cheapest thing to do is to order something from a Singapore website.

Does anyone know of good websites? I don't really know what to get so I would just be browsing at the moment.

I'm going to be based in Singapore for about three months at the end of the year, but thanks to Tiger and the proximity of Malaysia, I expect I will be coming in and out a lot, say once a week. Is it likely Singapore Immigration (or the Malaysian immigration people) will have a problem with this? At the moment, it seems I'll be able to enter on a normal visitor's visa, although I will actually be studying (without enrolling anywhere - it is part of a university sabbatical period).

We'll be traveling to Nepal through Singapore where we have 8 hours layover.
For the trip to Nepal we are bringing some dried fruit, power bars, bonbons, hard cheese and hard salami that would stay in the checked in luggage.
Are any of the above mentioned items on the "Do not bring" list?
thank you
