OK, I'm off to a trade show at Suntec Singapore in April and have just found out the show organisers are charging a ludicrous amount to have wi-fi access in the hall for the three days of the event...

So I was wondering, is there a ISP or telecommunications company that offers short term wireless broadband access that would cover the Suntec Convention Centre? I've dug around and all i've come up with is Singtel's Free Wireless@SG and whilst this good, it's limited to particular hotspots, none of which include the convention hall.

I also stumbled across Starhub's similar sort of deal ...however it appears to have only limited access in terms of the convention centre.

Last and certainly not least I found Starhub's Mobile Broadband which seems to be exactly what I'm after though if I am reading the info correctly, you need to already be a Starhub Mobile customer to use this service (which i'm obviously not).

Can anyone point me in he right direction as to who if anyone offers mobile broadband services for short term travelers? for those of you in australia, i'm thinking along the lines of 'unwired' or similar. failing that, are there stores that will rent the modem cards/dongles in the same kind of way you can rent mobiles in japan?

thanks in advance.

ADEX 2008 ? For an international expo i think that there should have been a wifi coverage, specially in Singapore !

So I landed in Singapore last night. The Singtel free service works great and it's fast. Here's a tip though. I tried signing up for it in the US but they never SMS'd me the password. I thought about buying a local simcard just to get the password but if you just say you forgot your password on the sign up site, they will just display it to you. I don't know why they want to SMS it to begin with.
