Have spotted some cheap as hostel accom so sorted for that, will £100 last me 4/5 days if I'm not shopping?

Any tips gratefully received :)

about 3 days

you can eat very cheap, o, your money will last longer if you go up to kuala lumpur though, or somewhere in malaysia anyway

johor is not a very nice place, according to here.

i think its about myr$6 to the uk gbp. about half that for the sgd$

sgd$10 a meal will fill your tum, and yes, you can eat healthy too, ie, avoid the fried rice, or fried noodle, or the fried queh pisang (fried bananas)

you can go and buy some fresh greens at ntuc fairprice, go to delifrance and get some bread rolls, and make your self some sandwiches.

or, if you don't mind getting a bit "fat" you can eat:
fried rice with red skin pork
fried bread (murtabak/channai) with curry sauce
satay
fried noodles
soup noodles
roasted pork
fish head curry
nasi lemak
soft shell crab
ais kachang
chendol
kaya bread (kaya is egg jam)

bottle of water would set you back about sgd$1.50 per litre bottle

travel around the city, $10 stored value card can last you 3 days, of course the more you travel, the more the balance will drop. if you use the mrt, the prices depend on how long you stay on the lines. buses, it depends on how far you travel, $1.50 to $2 is the max per air cond bus trip

hostel, the best according to what i have read on their website, is the inn crowd at sgd$18 per dorm bed per night.

4 to 5 days is about right.

its about $2 or so to get the sbs transit #170 bus to larkin, and then a bit more to get up to say, malacca town.

if you go to www.xe.com and do a forex comparison, you will see you get more myr$ than sgd$ for your uk gbp.

according to www.xe.com, uk gbp100 is about sgd$275.

backpackers sgd$18x5=$90.

$275-$90=$185, $185/5=$37.

$17 a day for food, leaves you $20 a day for other things.

so, you can definitely live there on gbp100.

now, gbp100 though is myr$629. food is much chepaer across the border too.

so, if you have gbp125 or a bit more, to cover the transport from singapore to malaysia, you can live longer over the border.

ah, SGP is ok on a budget if you dont need to go to the zoo. Ananda Bhavan Restaurant has very decent food for those on a budget. Little India & Arab Quarters eateries same same. "Kopitiam" or "Foodrepublic" outlets still ok-lah. Foodcourt @ Tangs ok just at the MRT Xing, curry leaf fish, sushi or laksa. Bugis Market streetfood is good too. Go to the Rojak eatery GF opp Bugis Market end(2 floor building)and get food for 4 SGP$. Or any of the eateries in little India.

Yup, you can definitely do it on 100 pounds (about $200 USD) for 4-5 days.

Eat where the locals eat - it's better food anyways! Avoid the over-touristy areas like Raffles Hotel and the Boat Quay Road in the Financial District. Stick to the local coffee shops, the Chinese dives (open 24 hours!), Little India, the Muslim QUarter, etc...

We stayed at a great hotel/hostel. It's 17 Singapore per night for a dorm. Very very clean. TV, Air Conditioning, Lockers. Only 4 beds per dorm. Perfect location - you can walk to most everything and not even need to take a bus or metro!

It's called the New 7th Storey Hotel. Website is http://www.nsshotel.com

Another place is in Little India - Dunlop street. Cheap and clean.
