After Korea and Taiwan, I spent two days in this colourful city state in November 2006.

I was impressed with the beautiful and colourful heritage neighbourhoods that Singapore has (Chinatown, Little India, Joo Chiat). I love the colourful rowhouses and the elegant British colonial architecture of the Colonial District. Last but not least, the National Orchid Garden within the Singapore Botanic Gardens was just spectacular!

Another pleasure of visiting Singapore is the food. There are many hawker stalls serving great food at good prices.

I stayed at Betel Box Backpackers Hostel and was very happy with the hostel, the helpful staff and the beautiful neighbourhood it is in. The hostel is located in the Joo Chiat area, which boats some of the finest Heritage architecture in Singapore. Their website is http://www.betelbox.com/

Thanks!

Ben

Oh, yes, I get you now!
Your point is a good one, your experience of a place is comparitive to where you have come from.

My experince of Singapore is always after extended periods of much poorer places, and it is such a luxury!
The food still has me calling out in the middle of the night!

I have never been to Korea although have heard it can be bleak in some ways...weatherwise and socially. Food also not as exciting as surrounding countries.
