Don't be too ambitious to see it all.

The reason is because Singapore is hot and humid, some (a number of people) say its not, but I know I sweated a lot when I was there.

You need at least 2 or 3 handkerchiefs, use one, put into pocket, use the other, the first one will be dry by the time you need it for the third time usage.

Drink lots of water, because you will sweat it out, instead of pissing it out.

Keep an open mind.

O, if coming in to Changi Airport, get the taxi from the airport at least use it once. It might be a bit more expensive, but you can chat with the taxi driver who is a font of knowledge.

They tend to be of a less scamming nature than say, taxi drivers in Malaysia or Thailand.

English is spoken, but the accent is different, and you will need to get used to it!

Sometimes the food is very heat hot, as in just out of the pot. Esp noodles, so if you want to try say, kok lor mee, noodles soup, don't put it straight into your mouth, you will burn it.

The trick is to use either the chopsticks or the fork to cool the noodles down a smidgen. Fork it or chop stick it out of the soup for a few secs, then into mouth.

The second type of hot, is chilli hot, pedas or hiam, pedas is Malay for chilli hot, hiam is quasi Hokkien.

In a hawker centre, watch how people order. You can sit anywhere you want, and an "assistant" will come to ask what you want. If you are western, they will try to speak basic English. Some of them might even speak very good English.

You can order from 2 or 3 different stalls, for 2 or 3 different snacks to make it a meal.

Anyway, Singapore is a great place to be.

Very efficient, and all well planned.

MRT is a great thing, cheap too. One tip, spend the least time in transit from A to B. The more time you spend on the line, the quicker your tap card balance will go down.

You should at least do one of the guided Singapore walks. It is $25 per person and they are really informative. I did the Time of The Empire and also Secrets of the Red Lantern Tour. Both were awesome and if I ever go back to Singapore I will definately do more. Our guide Geraldine was funny and really knew what she was talking about.

  1. Swim with Pink Dolphins at Dolphin Lagoon at Sentosa Island. You will get to learn about their behaviour and interact with them. Only very small group. You will get to to do a dorsel swim tow, amazing! They will take plenty of photo's for you, give a t-shirt, entry into underwater world and the dolphin show is also included in the price.

2 & 3. Have breakfast with at Singapore Zoo (you MUST book!) then spend a great day there, followed by a great night at the Night Safari (don't worry about booking the dinner, plenty of choices of places to eat tea) but you have to go on the tram otherwise you miss half of the park.

  1. Jurong Bird Park. Just amazing!

  2. Luge and Skyride @ Sentosa Island: But you have to take to 2 ride combo, just like their t-shirsts say - once is never enough!

  3. Cable Car Ride from Singapore to Sentosa Island for a view to take your breath away.

  4. Ben and Jerry's Waffle Sundae: for lunch on a hot day, how refreshingly indulgent

  5. Songs of the Sea @ Sentosa Island: the story is a bit corny but it is a water and laser light show done at night using fireworks and music. Looks amazing. Has an underlying story to keep the kids amused.

9 & 10. Chinatown & Orchard Road . Go for a walk, talk in the sights and sounds

You will remember it forever!
