Hi

i am going to US, Canada and Europe (mostly around France and UK).
The pin number of my DBS ATM card is 6 digits.
So will i have problem to use it at these places?
i heard that, ATM at some places take only card with 4-digit pin.
i will have big big problem if i am not able to use my ATM card at these places.
Thanks.

I think it doesn't depend on the number of digits of your PIN if you can use your card but if the ATMs abroad accept your card (and this you can check with your bank).

The bank said, i can use my card but sometimes it depends on the overseas ATM as well.
Some machine might not take pin with 6 digits if theirs need only 4 digits for pin.
That is the reason that i would like to know whether anyone here successfully used the Singapore ATM card in these country.

I've successfully used my DBS ATM card in France. It does have 6 digits. Actually it only worked in some bank ATMs (can't remember which), and sometimes I had to try out quite a few before i would find one that worked - but I always found one in the end.

It might be a good idea to let DBS know you will be travelling. They seem quite trigger-happy about cancelling credit cards if they think the usage doesn't match your previous spending habits.

I would guess that if the card doesn't work in the ATM's, it would be possible to get cash by going into the bank for a teller-assisted withdrawal. ATM's in the US use 4 digits and you could run into problems relying on ATM's there.

As it happens, I work with banks on electronic payments. Your card will work with 6-digits in the US and Canada, as long as your bank is a member of one of the large international networks like PLUS or CIRRUS. Almost certainly it is. If your bank is a PLUS member, your card will definitely work in the machine of another PLUS member in the US or Canada. It might or might not work in a CIRRUS machine, but the odds are good.

Although I live in Canada, I also have a US ATM card and it has six digits. It works in both countries with no problem.
