I'm discouraged by the very expensive flight from el nido to manila. 2 questions:
1) if I only go to Puerto Princessa and skip El Nido, will I hate myself?
2) how bad is the bus to El Nido? Are there any overnighters? I'll be going in the first week of August... will the rains wash out the roads?

Speaking of taxis, I have my diving gear with me and want to avoid buses if I can. I was in Puerto Galera last year, but came from the south so not familar with the taxi fare.

My question is: I will be arriving in NAIA at about 11 AM, how would I go about getting a taxi to the Batangas Pier (or is there a better way). Prearranged price through the airport, or 'go out in the street' and hassle the taxi guys, trying to avoid that as I'm quite familar with Manila taxis.

Hi there!

My first post: I've been browsing this branch for the last few weeks trying to plan a diving + extras trip to the Philippines for two weeks this August. And so far you all have been able to anticipate and answer every question I've had... I'm not sure I need to buy the book! So thank you all for sharing - it's a huge help.

But - one thing. So many of you have recommended Nuts Huts on Bohol, that I'd really like to try it out, but I can't find any website, contact info... ANYthing…

I'm needing a dentist in Manilla. Can someone suggest a decent dentist here? Any good expeniences from you guys?How much would a root canal step me back roughly?

Thankyou to those Thorn Tree members who mentioned the Blue Mango Resort, Boracay. I have just booked a few nights at the Blue Mango and will be arriving 29th July, 2007. At is a bit more expensive than a Hostel but looks friendlier than an up market resort.

Am travelling solo it would be great to catch-up with other travellers who are interested in diving, going sailing, having a chat or drinking cocktails on the Island. My shout!
