I'm taking my 50-something year old mum on a short trip to the Philippines in February. We're flying into Manila, heading up to the rice terraces for 2 days, then ... where??
We'll have about 8 days, in which time she mostly wants to lie on a beach. We were very keen on going to North Pandan Island but unfortunately it seems like booking 4 months in advance is too late! :( so missed out on that. Hey I was just wonderding about how the weather is from recent personal experience month by month for the first half of the year. I've checked charts and studies but would like a un biased reply. Example: January=sun, Febuary=Sun....April=Sun-Cloud, July=Rain-thunderstorms...etc. Just to give me an idea. Thanks for whoever can help!

I am planning on going over to the island of Mindanao next year and have read that these places are not safe. Is there any truth in the matter, and has anybody else had any problems there. I will be staying with a national over there and then in a hotel in Davao City.

Already booked my flight to KL for 10th December. Arrive at KLIA early morning 11th.
I want to fly to Clark on Air Asia on 11th.
Then i'll have 14 days for the Philippines and fly back to KL on the 25th.
And home on the 29th December.

So please advise me !

Cheap accom in Manilla for, say 1 or 2 days then head somewhere else.
Where ?
Any idea ? I want to dive but holiday not focused on diving alone.
I want to see the rice terraces also and meet local people.

Since I´ll be in Donsol and Legazpi, it might be worth visiting the nearby islands, which seem interesting. Any good diving there, apart from the whale shark (which is snorkeling, anyway)?

I want to get my Padi Open Water while in Phils.
As my time is limited, I would like to do one part in Boracay and one part in Panglao.
Is this possible? I don't want to spend all my time in Boracay or Panglao diving.
Maybe there are dive companys operating out of Boracay and Panglao?
I mean one company, but based in both places.
Basic idea is to do theory and pool in Boracay and the actual dives in Panglao.
