Hi.
I will be visiting the Philippines for the first time next month. The first 4 days I will be staying in Angel City. My hotel in AC can transport me from the Airport to the hotel for 2500 pesos. I will be landing in Manila at 6:30pm.
Question: Is there transportation at the airport where I can get a better price to AC. i.e. express bus or local taxi?
How much can I bargain down for a taxi to AC? Where are the taxis located in the airport?
Thanks.
Tom.

You mean Angeles City right? From the airport you can proceed to the Victory Liner terminal not far from the airport in Pasay, Edsa and the buses go by the hour to Angeles City. I cant remember how much the fare is but not more than P 500.00.
Its about P130 bus fare from Angel City terminal to Pasay terminal. Taxi from your hotel to the terminal will cost about P50. Taxi from terminal to your hotel in Manila will not be more than P200.

I assume you mean angeles city and your hotel is in balibago area i.e.bars and more bars . I assume you are arriving at NAIA, you will find the coupon taxis charge around 2500, a taxi on the street could be haggled down to around 1500 plus freeway tolls and back - another 380 so you could save a little but would have to get a taxi onto the street and unless you are backpacking on a tight budget then I would not recomend it as it involves a long walk in somewhere you don't know and for the sake of few hundred aint worth it.
If you can afford the attractions of Angeles then you can afford the 2500 -the journey time is 2-3 hours.
If you want to go by public transport then the nearest bus terminal to balibago is DAU and you can follow michaeleanymeenyminymos advice, a coupon taxi there will set you back around 400 pesos

Have you not been to P Burgos St. in Makati? the girls are generally much better looking, though it is a lot more pricey. In AC, they are few and far between.
Not that I participate in this sort of activity, I just enjoy the views while having a few beers...

The option for lowest price for the trip is as follows. After leaving the airport terminal walk out to the road and take a local bus that passes every 10 minutes or so. Tell the conductor you're going to the Baliwag stop at Cubao. This will cost you maybe 25 pesos. At the Baliwag stop go to 5 Star bus lines, just 20 steps away, and take the Dau bus. That will cost you 119 pesos. On arrival in Dau walk to MacArthur Highway, just 100 meters away, take a jeepney to the SM / maingate, and that costs just 7 pesos. Your hotel will be close to that terminal.

I 2nd aklan's advice.
But I did it many times a little differently.
Almost any bus passing by the airport terminals will travel along E.D.S.A. I would pay Php10. and get off at the first Jollibee fastfood restaurant you see. This is located right after the first MRT Station at ESDA & Taft St. At the Jolibee restaurant is a walkway over to the other side of EDSA, go up the stairs and walk above the traffic to the other side. Then take the right-side stairs down and walk past the gas station. Just past is the entrance to Victory Liner Bus. IMO the best bus I have taken and about Php135 to Dau. At Dau a trike will cost Php50 to most of the hotels along Fields St. or you can walk to Mac Arthur Hwy and cross the street to catch a jeepney to Fields St or the Main Gate or Clark.

1- which road
2-what side of the road
3-what colour bus
4-luggage in hold or on the bus
5-how far is it to Cubao or Victory
6-when I get to Dau where is the jeepney stop
7-what side of the road
8-what if the jeepney is full-where do I put my baggage
9-If I get a tricycle and the driver asks for 100 pesos how hard should I haggle
10-If I get completly lost at 7.30pm , can't find the right bus ,miss where to get off what
is my back up strategy
OR why not get a taxi and have an early night, no bars, no nothing,- I expect you will find youself about 2500 pesos up

A lot of info about Clark, Dau buses etc...
I did the commute thing a few weeks ago.
1)Cubao - Dau via Victory Liner : P130
2) from Dau station: turned left, walked for 5 min until I reached MacArthur Highway (otherwise known as Highway and this is a main highway so you won't miss it)
Crossed to the other side of MacArthur and waited for a jeep (signboard: Clark; P7.50)
Alternative: Tricycle from Dau station to Clark entrance , P60)
3) From Clark entrance, green passenger jeep (they have 2 routes, one obviously doesn't pass the airport): P9
4) Got off the airport entrance gate and walk the rest of remaining miles to the airport bldg: 10 min
Alternatives: Special delivery from Clark entrance to airport: Jeep (P100-150) / Taxi (200)
I was carrying a light pack of course when I did this :) I also forgot to mention that I broke the trip by a quick stop to SM before walking towards the jeepneys:)) Man SM is like sexpat central during day time :)
