Hey,
I'm thinking of spending 2/3 weeks in the Phillipines and want to get at least week of surfing in. I'm not an experienced surfer so I'm not looking for huge waves, just good ones.
How is the surfing in the Phillipines and what time of year is the surf most reliable?
Also, whereabouts are the good surf spots in relation to other recommended places to visit in the country. I don't JUST want to surf by any means.
I'm at the very starting point of planning a trip/itinerary (i.e this post is the first thing I've done!) so any tips/advice would be much appreciated.
I'm looking to go before the end of this year. It's likely to be me and another guy (late 20s).
Thanks!

hey, i spent 6 months in the Filis a few years ago, mostly surfing. although im not an expert on the filipino surf scene id recommend for some one of limited ability to go to the south china sea side of luzon. i stayed for a while in san juan and the waves work there between oct-feb. not always fantastic but there a few places to surf near by if its not too good at S.Juan. the best bit about s.j is the locals, always friendly if you are the same back and love nothing better than a few cold beers and a party. s.j isnt the prettiest place in the filis but has a good vibe. if your in that area spend a fews days going to Banauie rice terraces, amazing!! quite far inland but worth the hassle. feel free to get in contact, if you live in england ill give you my mobile if you want to chat - cheers and good luck

i used to take a Partas bus( partas are probably the nicest of all the bus companies) ask a cab driver to take you to the depot. its a 6-7 hour trip to SJ along state highway one. can get crowded if youve got boards. alternatively if theres a few of you you can hire a van driver to take you. it cost me and a buddy about 8000 peso for the trip but we were fresh to the filis and should of haggled a lot more!! or fly to baguio then get a bus to san fernando (about 2 hours) then a short jeepney to SJ. best time to go on the bus would be late at night and its only about 400-500 pesos. hope this helps...
