Hi all, as you may know I am travelling round the Philippines and Malaysia with my girlfriend at the end of July. Thanks for all your advice about places to stay in Kota Kinabalu and Manila.
We also need somewhere recommended in Puerto Princesa, preferably not too too far from the airport. Any good hotels there? Also which are the seedy areas to avoid?

What price range?
Wouldn't worry toomuch about location. A tricycle gets you to the airport within 10 minutes from downtown and there isn't really any traffic jam which could hold you up that you would miss a flight.
Some links to Pt. Princesa Hotels on my webpage, Philippines online links section (webpage in my profile).

Several years ago, I stayed at Casa Linda. It was comfortable, clean, cheap and well run. Directly across the road was the Trattoria Inn, which also seemed nice. The Casa Linda was about P450 at the time, and might now be about P700. I remember it was close to the airport, because I walked from the airport to the hotel! I wouldn't recommend it in typical Philippines weather, but everything is close by there. I can't remember there being any dodgey parts of town. I asked a local for a nice place to have a drink, and he warned me about a few places on the edge of town that were dangerous and risky. I promptly ignored him and went there, and found that area to be perfectly safe! Puerto Princesa is one of the cleanest cities in the Philippines. The mayor is obsessional about littering, and there are big fines, so it's surprisingly clean there. The town centre busy and clogged with too many tricycles, but what provincial town there isn't!

casa linda is run down dont bother. puerto pension is a big wooden native place, around 1000 peso

Definetely PUERTO PENSION. Some very cool local design - nipa I believe.
Great balconies views of the bay as well..

re: #2, as far as i know asia world resort hotel is no longer operational. there are lots of accommodations around the city proper (close to puerto princesa airport). it really depends your budget. the last time we were there, we stayed at the place called "pagdayon inn". as far as i can remember they charged us USD13/night. it's along the main street and very close to everyhting. rooms are nice and clean, staffs are friendly.
you could also do hotel hopping upon arrival at ppc airport. tricycles can take you to several hotels/inns and you can choose where you want to stay. just be careful because some drivers would force to take you to hotels/inns where they get commissions.
Also re#2 - unless you are the sort of person who requires serious luxury and isolation I'd skip the Miniloc resort. You are on a small bay on an island. The bay falls into shadow by mid afternoon and to go anywhere means catching a boat. The resort is backed by huges limestone cliffs so you are trapped in the resort. Far better to stay in El Nido town if that is on your agenda. We stayed at Tandikan cottages right on the beach for P500 a night. Would highly recommend it - very clean and well located.
