Puerto Galera (again)

Puerto Galera is not actually that bad, especially if you have never been before. Its just that Sabang, the main resort area is very sleazy in places. Puerto Galera Town is pretty nice and even better are the seafront resorts at Muelle Port and the out of town beaches.
To me its just that are much better places to be. You dont say where you will be travelling from??

For me somewhere like Pandaquit is miles ahead of PG..

Thanks Surfie, I'm from the UK. I've been to Boracay, Palawan, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Bohol etc etc and just wanted to see something different and not too far from Manila. I'll certainly check out Pandaquit..

Will I be a "handsome man" in Sabang? Might be worth taking a look. Not sure what the wife will say though!

If you are exploring the area, beaches, waterfalls, the main Town etc. you probably wont even notice the sleazy bits, and if youre into diving it has some superb divesites. Just that to me Sabang is very overdeveloped but theres also two other areas, Small Laguna and Big Laguna which are less developed. Best to try and avoid travelling there at weekends as loads of people head there from Manila..

I quite like a bit of sleaze. Thanks for the link for the beaches, some look just the kind of places that I like.

Actually surprising how many good beaches there are not too far from Manila, Patar Beach in Bolinao is a stunner!..
The picture on that list of PG is White Beach, but its been taken so you cant see any of the hotels, far end is quite nice. Others just few KMs away are nicer..

If you're looking for somewhere different, you really need to check out the Taal Volcano in Tagaytay because it's on the way to Manila from Puerto Galera. PG itself is a worthwhile destination IMO as there are other nice beaches apart from the main few that can be visited, by boat.

As for Pundaquit and Bolinao, I've been to both. Pundaquit is where you go, unless you're a surfer, to visit Anawangin Cove and Capones Island. The sand around these parts, Capones Island excluded, is blackish in colour unlike further north in Bolinao. This area of Pangasinan has a few fantastic beaches plus it's close to The Hundred Islands National Park should you wish to visit.

Unfortunately, it'll probably take around 6 hours from Manila by bus to reach Bolinao. Going to Pundaquit will take between 4-5 hours depending on which route the bus takes, but there is an element of sleaze in a place called Subic Bay which is before you reach before Pundaquit, beside Olongapo.

If you're looking for plenty of sleaze though, Angeles City is the place to go and it's just over 2 hours from Manila but it doesn't have a beach and your wife probably won't like it.
