Hi All,

My girlfriend and I are looking to plan a 2-3 week holiday / tour around the Philippines coming from Sydney, AUS

We are 28 / 29 well travelled, and like to get out and about and both very active. We would like to get off the beaten track but also have some down time as well just lazing on the beaches somewhere.

We will be looking to fly into and out of Manilla (unless someone has any other advice)

We would like to do some island hopping but not so much that you spend your whole time in transit.

Questions:
- Do you think two weeks is long enough or would 3 be better suited. Given that we will be travelling from Sydney and would like to visit a few of the different islands. Planned dates are either 22nd FEB - 11th MAR or 26th FEB - 11th MAR.

  • Where are the best places / islands / locations for some of the following
  • Diving / snorkelling
  • Historical sites
  • Best / favourite beaches
  • Natural springs / waterfalls
  • Caves to explore
  • Volcano trekking and/or sight seeing

Looking forward to all suggestions.

Cheers

Rich

Hi Rich
I would suggest flying in and out of Cebu rather than Manila. From there you can check out Malapascua, Bantayan ,Bohol and Oslob.
Other suggestions would be Palawan where you can go to El Nido. Take a look at Tao Philippines on YouTube. They are based in El Nido.
Enjoy
Noel

even the longer vacation, is only 19 nightsand even with that you can't possibly visit more than three islands plus your arrival and departure points..

Manila can actually be a better hub to use than Cebu is even for a Visayan vacation, as with Manila you can use it in 'open jaw' type itineraries much better than Cebu.

so you can fly in to Manila, then on to say Tagbilaran for Bohol, then Dumaguete for the attractions around there and then up to Cebu for the last part and then fly from Mactan Cebu airport back to Manila for your final flight back to Sydney at the end.

Aside from thier suggestions of the visayas region, my take would be the off beaten path of the far north of Luzon or Manila. You just have to pick of which area you want to start with, beach or mountainous area? Or combine both. From manila head to Baguio, from there go to sagada has a good caving nothing technical but that can be arranged, batad banaue or climb Mt Pulag, 3rd highiest Mountain in the Philippines, your time frame has the perfect sea of clouds. Then head down to the beaches of la union and aurora. Vigan would be a perfect place for some culture with its spanish houses and churches. End it to ilocos and cagayan valley, for more beach and caving. There are flights coming into and from manila in that area, cebu pacific and PAL has a good number of flights per week. Hope it helps!
