Hi, I'm planning to travel 3 weeks in the Philippines (probably Luzon, Palawan and Bohol) in february. I'm travelling solo. In your opinion, which is the daily budget (diving and flights non included) I should consider? And what about the weather? I read it is usually sunny, but I'm scared that the water could be rough and not too warm... Is it easy to find travel companions? I'm in my 30s and sometimes I fell quite old compared to the other travellers :)
Thank you

The weather should be generally fine, I would say January-February are the best times to go there. The water will be warm. It's not really a backpacker destination although there are some about in places such as Bohol and Palawan. Costs are a bit higher compare to some other countries (Vietnam, Cambodia), similar to Thailand. Depends what sort of room you want. Some places don't have electric 24 hours (Palawan) outside the cities. You should be able to manage on $40 a day depending where you go and what sort of room you need.
For diving see this: http://www.scubadivephilippines.com/SCUBAweather.shtml
Hello, @eli25! The weather changes in the PH are unexpected, so any period between the months of January and February might not be the best time for this year in those places. Nevertheless, I think it is more desirable to travel in February than to travel with the huge wave of the crowd during the Summer season. I agree with the other advice by @herbie47. Expect also some places in Palawan to receive weak signals. I'm not sure how easy to meet travel companions along but I'll let you know if someone will have the same adventure as yours. You could also take part of the Kaamulan Festival 2017 which will happen on February 20 in Bukidnon. If you have more time in your hands or if this ticks your interest, you can head to Bukidnon from Bohol.
Let us know what else we could help. Cheers!

I agree that January-February may not be the best month for everywhere in the PIs but I think it's one of the best overall. Certainly Luzon its fine weather. PIs is 1,000s of islands so weather is unpredictable. I went to Palawan in December and it was not good. Last year Palawan and other parts had a drought lasting about 5 months from January. But weather changes every year, can't guarantee what it will be like.

What date do you arrive? I am volunteering in the Philippines atm and looking for someone to travel with after :-)

Hi Emma! I'm sorry, since the flights's prices has risen, I've changed my destination... have a nice trip!
