I've got a few questions I am hoping some of you can help me with =)
We are flying into Manilla mid December and ideally would like to go straight to the Palawan and then on to the Vasayas. Places we would like to see in the Palawan are Port Barton, El Nido, Coron, and the underground river in Sabong. What would be the best way to see all these places withought backtracking? Would it be wise to fly from Manilla to El Nino, then go to Coron, then down to Port Barton, then to Sabong, then flying out of Puerto Princessa to Cebu?
How is the weather in the Palawan mid December? My boyfriend and I are travelling to the Philippines for 5 weeks and could easily see the Vasayas first if it works better weather wise.
Thanks from Vancouver, Canada!

I would fly to Cebu, do the Visayas and fly Cebu- PP and work north from there. It can be rainy in December in the Palawans. PM me for hotel recommmendations.

Agree with#1
I'm not sure how the condttions of the roads are in Dec.
There are 3 options getting from PP to El Nido. via Sabang and take a Boat via Port Barton )which could be rough...), fly straight PP >El Nido, or take the Bus from PP.
The most secnic and adventourus is the first, adding a 60hrs boat trip back to Manila!

i think you be better off starting in palawan. weather wise doesnt really matter this time of the year if it rains it rains but you will guarantee sunshine. and its the most strink part of the philippines so you wont regret spending less time after visayas. From manila fly to coron then slowly head south-- theres a boat that leaves twice a wk for elnido then there you can hop to port barton, sabang then puerto princesa(where you can fly to cebu)...
Road in palawan is still a bit rubbish just now but you can get through- there are boat trips in the destinations but pricier(quicker). or the expensive flights( if there is availability) 8 seaters).
In palawan there is an eco expedition ( coron linapacan, el nido- port barton-sabang2-4weeks) a boat that visits remote island- village stay, snorkel, fishing (diving?)- if they are running that time..
Taophilippines.com is their website-
If you are diving, Coron is a good choice to start from, then to El Nido, Port Barton, Sabang and PP. If you're not diving, I'd be tempted to miss Coron and go straight to El Nido. Coron is a great place and has great wreck diving and island hopping, but imo if you are not diving, the island hopping is just as good from El Nido. From PP (after dining at the Ka Lui Seafood Restaurant) you can head off to the Visayas.

Awesome! Thanks for all the replies =)
Yes we are planning on doing lots of diving while in the Philippines!
BTW What does Strink mean?

yes what is strink ???
as per coron dive with discoverydivers run buy a nice bloke called gunter he is the chap who found the wrecks in the first place ...also he does all the tec . and deco stuff if you are into that ..
I am not a diver. I still plan to go Coron - El Nido - Port Barton - Sabang - Puerto Princesa. It seems there are some nice things to see in The Calamian group of islands. Anyone more that thinks that non-divers should give Coron a miss? I am looking for more views on this.
Thanks.
To answer TheSwede's question, Coron IMO is worth a visit even for non-divers. Coron township itself isn't anything special, but it does have a good variety of places to eat, bars, etc. But there is some very good island hopping, hot springs, freshwater lakes etc. A few photos (if the link works) at http://www.flickr.com/photos/trota/sets/
