My girlfriend is wanting to come to the United States so I can tour her around except her and I are wondering how can she exactly obtain a US tourist visa?
Must she do this before departing her home country (being macau though she holds a philippines passport) or can she obtain a US tourish visa upon entering the United States?

What is the reasonable amount of sufficient funds she should also have for this type of trip to obtain a tourist visa? Is it reasonable that of course she will be staying in my home for the duration of the 27 days she's here? If yes, how much should she have in her bank account to show the US embassy to entry our country? Also, how long would it take for her to obtain her visa? And what are the steps to this?

Answers are greatly appreciated as soon as possible. Thank you!

sorry, but Uncle Sam is about to force a shotgun marriage upon you. In order to bring your "girlfriend" you will have to register her as a "fiancee" applicant. An interview at the embassy is necessary as well, the income funds have to be distributed over several years, the immigration is very strict with Pinays. it could very well take 6 months
You, in order to qualify as her sponsor, will have to be a property owner.
Bringing your GF to the US is a lengthy ordeal...

Interesting situation. She still has to get a tourist visa from the US Embassy. They are quite strict with Filipinos. Does she have a credit card and other financial documents to present to the embassy? If she is already working in Macau, not sure if they would be more lenient to her. She better make sure her emails does not mention anything about working in the US or something. The US Immigration can force her to open up her email account and can be denied entry even if she has a valid visa.

CDOguide is reasonable when stated that they might open her e-mail. Now, If the girlfriend can open another E-mail where is nothing about on a job here, will be better.

some pretty paranoid opinions here

  1. has she residence status in macao?
  2. what is here profession
  3. where is the us embassy located? macao, hkg, peking?

what applies for the philippines has not necessarily to be the same procedure in other country

but in general a lengthy procedure.

Paranoid opinions regarding the email? It happened to my friend. When he arrived in the airport (minneapolis if I am not mistaken) while lining up for immigration he was single out and asked some questions. He was then asked to open up his email account which he argued that it was a violation of his privacy. After some argument he had no choice but to give in and loo and behold, they saw emails of him discussing about future jobs in the US....denied and deported back to the Philippines. A relative of mine also confirmed that this also happened to some of her friends in Manila. Lets face it, Filipinos would take the opportunity to work in the US if given the chance. That is why the US Immigration is quite strict with Filipinos especially if they see your papers are a bit suspicious. You go to the US without a credit card? Denied! Single and a new graduate? Denied! Passport which has no indication of any foreign travel? Denied!

It depends how stable your girlfriend is financially. If she is in Macau, she should have at least established residency for more than 6 months, on a valid visa (working visa if working there), probably not a nurse and have enough money in the bank showing she can afford to travel. She will need a certification from her bank showing how much she has in the bank and how long has she been banking with them. She will need certifications from her employer of her work status, salary, and how long she'd been working there and more importantly, their permission that for a specified period of time they are allowing her to travel to the US. She also needs to establish proof that she is intending to go back.
If you are sponsoring her, you will have to fill a form for your financial situation as well. They need to establish a connection between the two of you therefore will have to show correspondence, proof that you have physically met each other etc.

Friends of mine who didn't have problems getting a US tourist visa were usually in the corporate jobs, had previous travel to western countries requiring visa and were able to return, had good financial records etc. The US Visa is the most difficult to obtain for a Philippine passport holder.
