Hi all ..... I plan on visiting the Philippines again from Thailand in November for 59 days. It's been a year and a half since I've been there last and cannot remember about the money part with the visa application. I think I showed them some traveller's cheques or something, I forgot.

Now I am just reading that along with proof of return transportation, fee and photos, you have to show them your bank account or the latest credit card statement you have.

Can anyone comment on this?
I usually wear nice clothes and even my watch & socks to apply at the embassy in BKK. Would I still need to show them bank accounts?

THX much.

Well this has never happened to me. In my perspective Philippine immigration is the easiest to deal with I have ever experienced. No need for bank account statement and so on.

your profile says you're canadian. you don't even need a visa. just arrive here with an onward ticket to anywhere. even a cheapie throwaway ticket from air asia or tiger air. they will give you 21 days on arrival. free. if you want to stay longer just go to immigration and pay the fee, about 2000 pesos. nobody will ask to see your money. even immigration won't ask to see your onward ticket but the airline that takes you to the phils will ask for it. or risk losing their landing rights. yeah, that's right! airlines will be more strict than even immigration. enjoy!

by the way, if you have time in the phils be sure to go up to banaue rice terraces. try this site: www.nativevillageinn.com<BR><BR>alec

According to this website:
Phil. government site

to get a tourist visa, here is one of the requirements:

" Proof of financial capacity (e.g. travellers cheques, latest print-out of credit card account(s), latest print-out of bank statements, ownership of real estate properties, and other documents showing the applicant’s capacity to financially support himself/herself during his/her stay in the Philippines) "

That's why I asked in the first place.

HOWEVER, it looks like I can just arrive with no visa for 21 days, then just extend it for 2 months. Extensions are given several times, so one can actually stay for 2,4 or even 6 months beyond the initial 21 days. Don't worry, I can afford to stay, will not beg or rob banks.

I hope this is correct, because I need to book a flight BKK to MLA (Cebu Pacific) return soon.

Please, please Alec or other knowledgable reader confirm or refute this plan....... thanks.

I wasn't asked.

The only problems you may have is when you check in as airlines require proof of onward travel but I have never been asked anything by the Immigration Officers

That looks like a new website and no one has been asked this kind of requirements yet. It might take a long time until full implementation takes place.

Relax and just come! Philippines still welcomes everybody, with or without money :)

When I've got my 59 days visa from the Philippine Embassy in London I was once asked to show proof of funds. Latest bank statement and salary slip did the trick.
Other times (before and since) I was not asked. I guess it just depends on the Duty Officer.
Now I just arrive at NAIA with the mrs and I get a 1 year Balikbayan visa for free!

OP, as everyone has said as long as you have a return ticket theres no problem. Just get the 21 day visa on arrival then extend it if you want to stay longer. You can actually stay up to 2 years on a tourist visa now.
