I will be traveling to the Philippines in early January. We have a few days free from the 14th through the 17th. Is it possible to travel to the rice terraces if we only have 2 nights available? Is this too much to pack into that time period?
Thank you!

Hi
It's a long way to go just for two days. I would suggest going to Puerto Galera or someplace closer instead. Have a read if this, it might help.

It's possible but as mdonohue says it's a long way. Essentially you'd be looking at 2 overnight bus rides.

Hi @mdonohue.

Yes it is possible but its two long bus rides, if youre simply looking into the banaue rice terraces. But there is the batad, the biggest one a couple of hours ride. i would suggest taking a 3 nights. Remember to arrange transportation to take and pick you up. We picked up a. Japanese guy along the trail wondering how he will get back to banaue since it was already nightfall! The people are wonderful! Hope it helps!

2 nights are not enough.
If you just wanna see the mountain views/highland tribes, then I suggest that you go to Baguio instead. Its just 5 hours via deluxe bus from Manila.
If you really want to see the rice terraces. Better allot some more time for it. Maybe 4d, but even that is kinda hectic.

Thank you everyone for all the information! I really really want to go to the rice terraces, but unfortunately I only have those days available. I'll have to decide whether it's worth it based on everyone's information! Thanks again! Oh, one other thing, I think we would have 2 nights to actually stay at the rice terraces. This is factoring in the night on the bus on the way there and the night on the bus on the way back. Is this do-able? As you can tell, I'm REALLY trying to make this work.

I haven tried this but you could check it out. There are airports in Tuguegarao and or Cauayan. You could bus it from those airports to Banuae. Not sure if Cauayan is still operating. Try Cebu Pacific website.

Doable? Yes, absolutely, even by bus from Manila, but in a rush. Probably leaving you with only one night there, depending on the bus connections, traffic, weather, etc..

There are flights Manila-Cauayan. You can be in Cauayan for 10.20am. €150 return.
You could get a taxi to Banaue 3 hours from Cauayan. Approx €80 one way. Not sure of getting jeepneys all the way. Would be much cheaper but also a lot longer.
