Hey, I'm looking at heading to Malapascua Island from Moalboal in a few weeks time and firstly want to know the best way (and time it will take!) to get from Malapascia to Cebu. Any help anyone can give would be hugely appreciated! Also, if anyone has advice on how to get from Cebu to Moalboal, and then Moalboal to Malapascua that would be amazing too. Basically we're wanting to get there as quickly and as cheaply as possible - don't really want to get stuck on a bus for 12 hours for what everyone is saying is a 4 hour trip. Any recommendations on places to stay and dive companies in any of these places would also be great :) Cheers in advance!

Cebu to Moalboal-take taxi to south bus station and get van or bus to moalboal
Moalboal to Malapascua- Van or bus to Cebu city then taxi to north bus station for van or bus to malapascua
Moalboal to Malapascua will be an all day travel, but don't worry the adrenaline will keep you awake. Cebu has some wild drivers(and crashes) Google search Cebu bus accident.
Malapascua to Cebu city probably 6 or 7 hours travel.

you have to go back to the city for this. Don't get a map out and think why can't we go up the west side of Cebu island. You can't do that as there is almost no public transport that way. The only way you could do that is, going to Malapascua from Moalboal up the west side, in one day, is if you have your own transport. And even then it would take a long time.
the only real issue is the buses to Malapascua leave from the north bus station in Cebu city and the buses to Moaboal leave from the south bus station. So if your transiting from Moalboal to Malapascua it would be a bus or v-hire van to the south bus station in Cebu city, taxi to the north bus station and then a bus to the maya port and the boat over to Malapascua. It would take all day to do something like that. You would have to get an early start from Moalboal to get to Maya in time to get the boat over to Malapascua which would be around 5pm at the latest

on a 125 I would go up the west side for this just to avoid the traffic in Cebu city. I'd take the mountain pass at Tabuelan which drops you at Sogod on the east side. It would still take about seven hours though from Moalboal to Maya. But it doesn't look like much on the map does it.

Thanks for all your advice. We didn't realise it was such a huge journey between Moalboal and Malapascua - does anyone have any recommendations as to other destinations within Cebu? We only have 6 days so any rough itineraries would be great. Only thing we really want to lock in is diving with thresher sharks. Thanks again :)
