Im just wondering, why you guys don't like the PHILIPPINES? why every edition that you made for the Philippines is getting thiner and thiner? Every moment of my life, im observing your products, im questioning my self why you dont have a new product for the Philippines that you have in the other country (eg. CITY SCAPE) which you have for Ho Chi Minh, BKK, Singapore, etc. even Maps of the Philippines. I dont know why you are removing Manila or the Philippines in your itenerary? Im not carrying my own chair huh? But lets admitt, the PHILIPPINES is the most diverse country any where in the world, where the most of FLORA & FAUNA is found, we can SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY in any ASIAN countries especially in SOUTH EAST ASIA, AGREE? I love LONELY PLANET, but if you still continue doing bad to the PHILIPPINES? Im observing also that you love THAILAND so much???? Thailand is not the only country in SOUTH EAST ASIA and the world, ok? so please dont concentrate only in Thailand, I feel so sorry for my Beautiful country, because of your discrimination in my contry, I rather change my brand, i getting interesested to buy ROUGH GUIDES PHILIPPINE because their issue for the Philippines is very thick, lots of useful details, good comments. althoug they dont have FILIPINO Phrase books unlike your LONELY PLANET FILIPINO pharase books which also i have right now (the latest issue), but still they are better than your edition of Lonely Planet Philippines evry editions.
I hope for your kind consideration about the PHILIPPINES.

First post. Had to get it off your chest eh? The Lonely Planet has different writers for the various countries so the style will change from time to time. As for LP being more interested in Thailand they are filthy capitalists like everyone else and clearly the money is in Thailand. God knows why, I agree the Philippines and Philippinos are far nicer!

OP, while I agree with you, we have complained about the Philippines LP guide quite a few times on here.
Last time I think we were told they would be "looking into" the next edition....
we can SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY in any ASIAN countries especially in SOUTH EAST ASIA,
why you think this is so "important" for visitors in overall?
while the top destinations on planet namely France, Italy, Spain ( France alone have 63 million visitors/year which is about its population ) don’t speak English
they have/LOVE their own language while don’t even care to speak English to visitors
(even actually they can! I had my own experience with French people )
I don’t know anyone else, but I myself have no problem with non-English country and actually I find it’s exotic like my recent trip in Japan
I don’t know chicken or the egg ,but Thailand edition probably ranks number 3 for all editions worldwide or in top 5
well i have noticed most travel sites are praising Thailand everybody loves Thailand well we cant do nothing about it their government have a great campaign strategy to promote their country's tourist destination. so dont blame the Lonely Planet if the Philippines dont get much attention now in the tourism industry compare to what it is before. blame our government for the lack of support and promotion to our tourism industry. so if you are a Filipino i guess you can help promoting by having a blog or a website about the beauty of Philippines just like what im doin.

I already send an email to the President of the Philippines regarding the situation of our tourism industry i think last 2006, but until now, there is no answer from them, im not blaming LP, but im just telling them what im feling right now, because even Vietnam is emerging fast as a tourist destinations and getting more ahead than the Philippines every day. maybe? one of the main reasons of it is because of some authors of the travel guides are having a favoritism or may i say critsisism? I hope you understand my feelings? I really love the Philippines and im proud of being Pilipino, im getting sad when the Philippines is not getting included in a travel magazines, books, guides. Even in the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant, a long long time ago, Philippines is the only Asian country that emerging in that contest, we won numerous ruuners up, semi finalists, titles, but now, what happen? only Miss Photoghenic award are given to us. too bad and its despairing, im not hoping any more that the Philippine government will change. Because i know in my self its IMPOSSIBLE for them to change and do good for the country
So much wrong information in that book. The wrong address and contact details have been printed for my friend's business in the last 3 editions - despite them having been in touch with LP to rectify the mistake. That entry probably does his business more harm than good as it sends customers to the other end of the beach and into the hands of the competition!
oh,im sad at about you rogelio.i will just praise to the lord always that......Lord,pls don't let those people around the world to get scattered in my country,we don't need them just to enjoy the beauty of our country in behalf of destruction and pollution of the beaches,forests,islands and our own people.i'm just hoping that they will not hear the philippines or witness how beautiful this country and adddicted to travel for.to this post,you showed your love for your country but to your attitude it seems your not.............respect is greater than love man...!!!!!!!
