I am planning a trip to Philippines in January. Yes! It will be the first time in four years since I was last there. I can’t wait. I had asked this question somewhere before and got some nice answers but have forgotten most now. Where are the bars and cheapish restaurants in Manila with great views? I can just see myself sipping a cold beer watching the city below light up. How romantic! All I need is a date.

In Antipolo city there are some restourants up some hills with a nice view. Cant help you more than that, but Antipolo is the place.

With the Baywalk bars gone, Antipolo is the next option. Not cheapish though and would be too much of an effort if you are alone :) There's also the stretch of Katipunan but again, not for the budget conscious.
Wait.. by good views you mean cityscape and that stuff right? :)

Thanks i think a trip out to Antipolo would be nice.
It’s a shame about baywalk. I just had a quick google about it. Mayor Lim? Wot again?

When I was there (in August), Lim had shut down Baywalk, but there were still some places open opposite Baywalk (near Remedios, I think called Bay View), a row of bars/restaurants with open air seating on top...not a bad place for a beer or two, and not too expensive.

lasingmao...yeah, the same clown as before. Apparently he won by a landslide (though my mate who owns a bar in Ermita reckons not many voted for him in that area, as last time he was in power he made half of them unemployed overnight when he closed all the (ex pat) bars. Note: Japanese and Chinese bars weren't shut down. Ah so!

He now seems to be undoing all the good deeds that Mayor Atienza did. Examples such as closing Baywalk, and opening up to traffic streets that Atienza had made into pedestrianised streets...

The Mall of Asia sounds like a good spot.
