Hi Im travelling to Palawan (and maybe Luzon) this February for 3 weeks. Ive booked a flight to Puerto Princesa and then want to travel overland to El Nido, island hop to Coron and then fly back to Manila. At this time of year do you need to book accommodation/boat trips in advance, or is it possible to wing it when you're there?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

February is not too busy, the times that busy are Christmas and New Year and Easter. But El Nido has not a great choice of rooms, so if you want somewhere in particular it will be best to book in advance. PP to El Nido is easy, about 5 hours. Not sure about island hoping think you will have go on a tour for that.

Definitely book in advance. I'm trying to book something reasonable now due to winging it and the options are very limited or hideously expensive for accommodation. I hear tours are very heavily booked too.
You can book your accommodation as soon as possible, but not the boat trips in my opinion. Yes, it's possible to book when you got there but chances are you will be finding somewhere else either because they are already full or they will offer you rates that are too high. My Filipino friends say they book as early as November whenever they go to Boracay/Palawan for the Summer Season (March-April).
I'm a big fan of winging it and it never was an issue in El Nido (even when looking for accommodation for 16 people in the middle of the high season in Jan). You can get more scoop and idea as to how to look for accommodation/what to do in and around El Nido on my blog: http://gone.cooking/?p=93 and http://gone.cooking/?p=181
