Hello. I am arriving in Davao at the start of a six week tour of Midanao and the Visayas. Can anyone what is a good area to stay in town and perhaps provide recommendations of places to stay and things to do. How much should a taxi cost in to town?. I have a very early arrival.
I will be travelling overland up to Camiguin Island. What is the best route to take and any stopovers that you can recommend. I am quite a experience traveller in S.E.A. but this will be my first visit to PPs.
thank you.

Davao-Camiguin overland:
A/C bus to Cagayan de Oro (6 hrs) -> jeepney/bus to Balingoan Pier (1.5 hrs) -> boat to Benoni, Camiguin (45m - 1hr) and then another jeepney to Mambajao

If you are planning to go to Camiguin Island, the best route to take is Davao City - Malaybalay (Bukidnon Province) - Cagayan de Oro City (Misamis Oriental Province) - Balingoan wharf (Misamis Oriental) - Camiguin Island. From Davao take the Cagayan de Oro via BUDA route (BUkidnon DAvao), it is safe and the fastest way from the south to the north Mindanao. If possible take the NON-STOP bus as it would no longer pick up passengers (strangers) along the way. As leng mentioned the trip is around 6 hours. Rural or Bachelor buses are the only ones plying the route. It is best to take the first trip in the morning. In case of mechanical problems or emergencies (as what I experienced before), there will be other buses behind that could assist you or pick you up. If you plan to stay in Cagayan de Oro City, check my website at http://www.cdoguide.com</a> or click on the link below for more info. It also has info on how to reach Camiguin from Cagayan de Oro.
