Hi

We are planning some holidays in the Philippines.

The plan is mostly to lay on an amazing beach and soak up the sun :). Did a bit of homework and places like Bantayan (Cebu), Camotes, Anda and around Allona beach (Bohol), Balicasag, are in the itinerary.

Everything sounded perfect until we checked the weather forecast. We don`t mind the odd rain, but looking at the weather forecast (it seems like its raining everyday and all day ... and thunderstorms, and have seem a forecast that the rain in February will be above the average), we are having second thoughts if we should go or delay our visit to another time.

Just don´t want the weather to ruin our holidays...We are planning to stay between the 4th and the 20th of February.

Any advise is really appreciated

Many Thanks
Pedro

Thanks for your reply Jim,

Just asking because unfortunately March and April this year is not an option, maybe we should head somewhere else and postpone the visit to the Philippines for next year.

Thailand is an option for this years holidays (February) but then again it seems that they are having some unusual amounts of rain and storms...

I know that February is not the driest month, and I don't mind the odd rain. The problem is that apparently the current weather is rain all day everyday and it seems thats the forecast for February. Doesn't seem like it's the "usual January/February" weather.

I would not worry about the rain in Thailand by February it will almost certainly be dry, at the moment it is only the south that is badly effected although there has been some showers elsewhere in Thailand

FYI I was in Cebu in july/August and there were only the odd showers on a few days

There is an active La Nina phenomenon which leads to above average rainfall. Whether or not this will result in rain all day every day in February is impossible to tell. Long range weather forecasts are speculative

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Having in mind the la Niña phenomenon, do you recon that in February, the chances of getting good weather are higher in Thailand's west coast beaches (places like Ko Lipe / Ko Similan) than in the Cebu/Obol?

No one can answer this. The only thing you can do is look the weather charts to give you an idea of the weather in previous years at this time.
