I plan to visit Camiguin, and I would like a resort with aircon cottages, dive center and pool... but I do not want to pay more than 2000 php. for the cottage.
Action Geckos is out of the question, as they charge much more.
If I can not find that... How feasible is to stay in Mambajao, and go diving every day?
Any web pages or email addresses in Mambajao where I can ask about lodging?
the inland - as the name suggests - Camiguin Highland Resort has a pool and rooms can be had for 1500.
forget the name, but next door to MARINONATA'S budget resort, in Yumbing, just a little way down the same side of the highway beach side from SECRET COVE resort, there is a resort with a pool and its own beach, and views of White Island. I'm sure they will sell rooms there for less than 2,000.
if you wanted you could stay in Mambajao town and perhaps go diving at the dive shop at the Paras resort, which is not so far. But Mambajao doesn't really have all that much, to commend it. There is places to stay in Mambajao, but none of them are up to much, the best being the former Rooftop Hotel now renamed Sector 9.
When you start to enter the barangay where Paras Resort (Agoho or thereabout) is located, a few people will approaching you and offering their accommodation. Just be open and check them out.
But Paras Beach Resort is having a Cheapest Package of Php811/PAX 2days/1night at the moment...check their website now.
I asked Paras about that promo, that seems suspiciously low...
Callippo: I think that the one you mean is Dreamland Beach Resort. It is around 800 meters from Paras, the nearest Dive Center.
I also think the '811/PAX' Paras thing on their website is suspicially low. Surely they wouldn't let you sleep in the dog kennel for that, at Paras.

And they have their cheapest room, for 1,800. That is not all that good a price. Although it is much better than anything Paras or Gecko's are likely to offer.
Camiguin is getting a reputation for having too much expensive accommodation options and not enough lower-end. I think Highland is a bit of a bargain, for Camiguin. It's really quite a nice, if a touch faded, hotel. And if you had a rented motorbike it would be no trouble at all to get down to Paras for the dive-trips.
Unfortunately we do not drive motorcycle... So we have to stay around the Highway, where we can use public transport. I also think Dreamland for 1800 is not cheap, but there might not be any better options than that...
