I need to find someplace to go for 6 days in late December before backpacking in north Luzon for 2 weeks. Unfortunately I'll have to also do a little work during that time, so I'm imagining someplace that's quiet and not over touristed yet has decent internet access and diving. So the criteria are:

  • Good diving (surfing would be a bonus)
  • Decent internet access
  • Not too much transportation time from Manila (a domestic flight is ok)
  • Not over developed or over touristed

Any suggestions?
I'm thinking perhaps Coron. Maybe Bohol, although I saw one post saying it was getting over developed.

You dont mention a budget, but my choice would be Apo Island in Negros, fly into Dumaguete and either stay in the City itself or base yourself at one of the many beach resorts in Dauin..

i second surfboy.... dumaguete and app island is the best option. Chill, quiet and not too overpriced.

If you need to bash out some work i suggest somewhere along dauin in dumaguete as the internet connection ( if you need it) is likely to be better. Dauin has first class muck diving or you can hop over to app and see turtles and bigger stuff.

Bohol is getting to developed these days. It will be like boracay in 10 years the way they are going....

Thanks!
Is there any reason why you'd favor the Dumaguete area over Coron?

Dive sites are really easy to get to from Dumaguete. From the airport Dauin is about 30-40 minutes by car.

Plenty of options for diving and its quiet.
