I wear pearls too....:)
Although I know I shouldn't bec it makes single girls cry...or so they say.

Compared to those vendors I met in Thailand (who would physically grab me), Boracay's vendors are quite relaxed! NOT aggressive. They can be pushy sometimes but in my experience that is only when a tourist has already expressed an interest in the goods on offer and then changed their mind. I just ignore them and avoid eye contact. This works! The worst affected area is the central part of white beach, between stations 1 and 3.

I think it's mostly an attitude thing. They're persistent, rather than aggressive and there's no lack, certainly.
Maybe one of the more innovative ones will start hawking the t-shirts number 5 talk about...
I've seen them on sale here but can't remember where. There's a big "NO!""NO!" and underneath it says "boat trip, pearls, massage, sunglasses..."

even kuta is not bad compared to tangier port or the egyptian pyramids but it is much worse than boracay...so is phuket and many carribean beaches...
in the philippines, PG , boracay and malate/ermita are the worst, alona beach(bohol) is not as bad but it's there ...if you want to get away from the touts , go to less touristed areas...siquijor, dumaguete, south cebu, camiguin...

I'm capable of being easily annoyed by touts. But the Boracay ones didn't bother me at all. I found anywhere else in Southeast Asia to be much worse than Boracay. They occassionally very nicely asked if I wanted sunglasses or whatever, but never persisted. They didn't even phase me at all, weren't even on the radar of even minor annoyance.
