I'm planning to visit Borneo in July. My first destination will be Gunung Mulu, and probably I'll try to go to Belaga from there.

My questions are:

- I'd like to go directly without making the whole tour around Sibu->Kapit->Belaga. I've read in the guide that is possible to make Belaga -> Bintulu with a 4WD car. Is it possible to do the opposite way, from Bintulu to Belaga?

- You need a special permit to visit upriver Kapit, including Belaga. The guide says you get that permit in Kapit, but…

Hi all!

I'll be in Malaysian borneo for three weeks and I want to visit a longhouse.

My questions are:

- Is it worthy to go up to Belaga in the Batang Rejang for a proper visit, or can I get a quite close experience somewhere around Kuching? I guess it's better to go to Belaga, but it means using about 3-4 days and I want to visit many things in Sarawak and Sabah.

- What's the best way to save time and money (about longhouses): in an independent way or with a tour?

I noticed recently that in Thailand a lot of internet cafes had headsets to use Skype.

Is that as common in Malaysia, or would it make sense for me to bring a USB headset along? (space is a premium)

I will be in Malaysia for part of the Asia Cup and would like to know if there are any good sports bars in Malaysia Borneo.

Also I have a ticket to the Semifinal and would like to know how to get to the Stadium that game is being played at from the city centre, can I walk or take a train, bus or taxi.

I was wondering what the distance from Hat Yai in Thailand to Penang is (by road)? Also from Penang to Tanah Rata? I want exact distances not estimations if poss.

Also, is there a website that would list all the road distances for S.E Asia? I've tried looking individually on Google but its a real pain!

Wait! I am on the right branch. I live in Northern Ireland and use Sterling (British pounds). Every time though, I travel to England, I make sure that I have Bank of England notes (still sterling). The reason being, because many in England think that notes that are printed in Northern Ireland are Irish pounds (no such thing anymore) even though the word sterling is clearly printed on them.
