I'm heading to Malaysia in a couple of weeks.
This is a relaxing trip mostly for beaches and diving and our budget is high.
We've thought about spending one week in Langkawi and one week in Perhentian. In Langkawi we intend to dive -I know it's not the best spot but we need to have a preparation before heading to Perhentian since we haven't dived since long ago- and relax on the beaches even if it rains a bit (I was some years ago in Phuket / Phi Phi also in August and wasn't bad weather at all).

Does anyone of you know how long does it take to get from Kuala Lumpur to Ko Lanta or Krabi in Thailand by train or bus?

I'm not sure if i'll fly to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, both is a big voyage afterwards to Ko Lanta but does anybody knows, which way is the closer or faster?

I don't want to fly to krabi,.....

Hi, there, need your suggestions on accommondation at Perhentian!

I'm going to Perhentian and living there for about a week, snorkeling, enjoying the sunshine and white sands. I've read some posts on TT, and someone said the lodges at long beach cannot be booked in advance.
Could anyone give some clue on the budget guest houses on the islands? I will travel by myself and would like to spend around RM 50 or less per night, were it possible.

It's 2 years since I visited Tioman. Can anyone update me on ANY the following:
- the new harbour. Finished? Any bad or good impacts?
- the road over the top to Juara. This was a rough track in parts. Has there been any progress? Are the "taxi" prices to Juara more reasonable?
- Nazris One. This is the one at the south end of ABC where the beach is nicest. It was rebuilding the section across the track, after fire damage I believe. What is this place like now?

Can't find anything on the Mandarin Pacific hotel on the internet!Can someone tell me the price of the rooms there?It's the hotel that's located on the road that's just perpendicular to Jalan Petaling right?!Stayed there before but forgot the name(think it was called Mandarin hotel before) so looked it up on the Lp guide.But it's an old edition so am not sure about the prices.Thanks.

Hi there, I fly into singapore next week and after a few days am planning to head to tioman Island for maybe a week or two. I stayed in salang last time i was there in june 05 and did not need any reseravtions for accomadation. has anybody been over the last few weeks and how busy is salang at this time?? Are there frequent buses from Alor Setar to Hat Yai

This may seem like a strange question, but we are flying into Singapore on Aug 2nd and heading overland up to Thailand etc.. On a three month tourist visa will we be allowed to re-enter Malaysia despite the fact our passports have been stamped (to show we have left) when we cross into Thailand? We are flying home from Singapore in October and wanted to check that we could definitely get back in again!! Presumably it should be fine as long as it's within that three month period?
