hi everyone,

my friend and i arrived in KK this morning and were planning on getting over to the national park tomorrow morning to begin the trek.

unfortunately, we feel the LP didn't stress the importance of pre-booking accomodation, and now we are left with no choice but to check for cancellations every day, as they're fully booked throughout the whole of august.

we've been told that there is always a chance that you can find somewhere to stay at the headquarters, but you're skrewed for somewhere for the overnight stop halfway up the mountain at laban rata. has anyone out there experienced this? is anyone else in the same position as us at the moment?

we're really stretched for time as we only have 10 days in borneo, and have every day filled with something, in theory.

we would both really appreciate any advice - thanks

I got in the same prob with Sutera Lodges. They intially confirmed the booking, later said Laban Rata is fullup.I had to go thru a travel agent who charged me a bomb(Paid RM 400 not inclusive of guide fees) .I too had little time, choice & was determined to climb.

You can't blame it all on the LP, if you only have 10 days and such a tight schedule then pre-booking seems essential
