Usually when people visit the state of Perak, they will visit Ipoh and at most Taiping. This is mostly due to the accessibility of these places to the North - South highway. This is a short trip report on some off - the - beaten - path places in Perak. Do note that you need your own transport as public transport in these places are lacking. Comments and questions are most welcome.

On the first day, we visited Teluk Intan and visited its Leaning Tower and East Dragon Sea Temple. These are decent places for twenty minutes each and a few photos. But I would say that Teluk Intan is not a must - visit. We proceeded to Sitiawan to visit the Tua Pek Kong Temple. This is arguably one of the largest temples in Malaysia and is worth the trip alone.

On the 2nd day, we visited the Segari Turtle Sanctuary. There are many turtles and the sea besides is beautiful but there's some trash on the beach. Still, we really liked this place. We visited the Beruas museum. While historically significant, it's too small to justify a special trip. We also visited the Rahmat maritime museum in Lumut which is basically a retired battleship. It's interesting but poorly maintained.

On the third day, we visited Wat Sitawanaram in Sitiawan which is still a work in progress but has an impressive tall Buddha. We then followed by driving to Kampar to visit the tin mining museum. It's informative but a bit dry. We also visited Lata Kinjang. Trash here is a problem and you can probably get a better view from the highway.

During this trip, we stayed at Monington hotel in Sitiawan which is decent for a family. Questions and comments about this trip are welcome.
