planning a trip to Tioman Island from October 7 - 10. I'm hearing conflicting advice about monsoon season... some say early october and some say that it'll be fine until late october. need some more insight on what the weather is like in early october? is it worthwhile to travel to Tioman at this time?

thx!

The weather in Tioman is more or less the same as Redang.

Personnally speaking after diving >16 years; it varies from as early as 1st week of Oct to as late as late Nov.

In 1989 (November), I was still snorkeling at Tokong Bahara (rocky outcrop South West of Tioman) and the islands of Rawa/Gual/Mensirip.

Last year it started late and it was over early, so anything can happen nowadays.

The core months of monsoon remains Nov-Feb; the chances in mid Oct is quite high but for 7-10 Oct there's still a chance but quite low probability.

Nevertheless, like I said earlier anything can happen. About 4-7 days before the monsoon starts there's a tell tale signs; changing wind direction (coming from North East), swells started to build up, whitecaps..........

go ahead. its difficult to predict weather nowadays. from past experiences early october is still fine in tioman. the north east monsoon
affect the northern regions first before reaching the southern region. i have been to tioman during the monsoon seasons and it was
great to experience the real monsoon.
