My friend and I have 4 days in Sabah. What should we include? We don't want to climb KK! Is it best to do a tour?

Unless you're into eco tourism, there's not really a huge amount to do. I'd say go to Sandekan to see the Orang Utan sanctuary - it's one of the very few places in the world where you'll see them in the wild and it's well worth while

Sabah is a superb destination if you are in love with the nature. You can visit the KK park, and you can get the view of the magnificient mount KK. You can stay in Kundasang for a nite or so, and i recommend the Pine Resort. White water rafting through the padas river, another great thing to do in Sabah. You have to take an hour bus to Beaufort and then take a 'steam' train to the rafting point. Or you can go island hopping. There are tonnes of island near KK. Manukan Island, Pulau Tiga (the island from the first Survivor series), and you can mud-bath there. All these islands are accesible from KK port. And yes, you can visit the Sepilok Orang utan sanctuary in Sandakan, or the Danau Valley near Tawau. Or you visit the famous Pulau Sipadan. Extraordinary experience for divers, superbly memorable even for snoklers. Sabah is indeed a great place to visit. You will fall in love. I know i did!

You can still go to the park HQ on Mount Kinabalu and look at the breath-taking panoramas. You don't really give us much to tell us what you are interested in, though. Do you dive (Sipidan)? Want to snorke (Mabul)l, want more of a "cultural experience" (Rungus lomnghouse near Kudat)? Want to see wild orangutans and proboscis monkeys (Kinabatangan River)? Or wabt to see an orangutan rehabilition center avoiding the jungle (Sepilok)?
