Hi people,

Hopefully someone here can help me. I'm living in KL for 5 months (been here 1 now), to do my internship. Only problem at the moment is that the costs of going to work and back is getting a bit much by cab (read grab and uber). Does anyone know a place where I'd be able to rent a scooter or anything like that?

Thanks in forward!

Pieter

KL has a good public transport system. Are you not near any of it?

Hey Westwood,

Unfortunately I don't. Close to my home there is, but close to my working place they only just started constructing it. The one closest would make my travel time to work 1,5+ hour because I eventually would have to take a grab from the arriving station to work. By grab this is 25 minutes and by scooter it would take me something the same. 1,5+ hour is a bit to much..

why rent? You're there on a long-term basis. Just buy one.

Then the same question would be applied; does anyone know a good place where I won't get screwed? They kind of tend to do that to white people around here. And I'm scared to get scammed when buying and selling it. I have the feeling that renting will make it way much easier according to insight in the total price. Buying would mean I have to get an insurance, I wouldn't know how much I will get back in the end etc etc

I would have thought that if you were living and working somewhere then you would have local colleagues who could help and as for getting scammed don't be so paranoid Malaysians are lovely people and true there are tourist scams but all you need to do is get an idea of prices and then negotiate

You would need insurance if you rent a bike would you not

OP, try calling 0125 710 838 (Mr. Hamzah) or 0179 711 305 (Mr.Hadi). I've not personally tried, it's a recommendation from my Malaysian colleague.

You sure you want to ride a scooter with KL's crazy traffic and frequent heavy rain?!! And monsoon season is coming up!
