Bramble747,
Forgot to also warn you about the sand flies on Tioman beaches. Me and hubby just laid on the beach on towels for 15mins and discovered to our horror that our backs were covered in little red mite bites that itched like hell and grew to the size of a hong kong 1 dollar with pus (which is big) .My back had around 15 lumps and looked like the world map after the second day and i couldnt sleep on my back. in the end i needed to go to the doctor's clinic for treatment. he said it would go away after a few days but it lasted for 3 wks and my back is still scared by it. So be careful about laying on the beaches in tioman - BTW, the snorkelling is great there.

Hi there,
If you are looking for nice beaches in Malaysia, I would say that Tioman may not be the best of choice. Many years back, Tioman was one of the best destinations in the world with pristine, beautiful white beaches. But as we all know through time and commercialization, nature will also be contaminated and deteriorate with time.
I would still prefer to go to Pulau Redang - Redang Island, Lang Tengah, Kapas Island which are situated at the east coast of Malaysia, off Terengganu. You can also go to Sipadan which is located at the East Peninsula of Malaysia, under Sabah territory.
Best to go to these places soon..before they soon become polluted ... :)
I normally travel by AIR ASIA...and I look out for their free travel fair. I only pay for fuel and tax surcharges!
