Hi,
Last year in late november my g/f and i went to Ko lanta in thailand as part of a thailand trip and did some diving and relaxing etc and loved it. We are looking to do a trip to Malaysia about the same time this year. Last time we spent about 5 days on the island but this time we want to double that because it just wasn't long enough.
At the moment we are looking at the perhentian islands as they look amazing and it looks like there is good snorkeling right off the beach. The only problem though is that most of the resorts seem to shut around that time and apparently the visibility isn't any good for diving etc due to the monsoon.
So we have two options:
1. Find somewhere else in Malaysia that is as beautiful and good for diving. (we have looked at sipidan/mabul/kapalai but seems a bit too expensive for 10 days. Can anyone help us out with some alternatives?
2. Postpone the trip until Feb and head there then. Will resorts be open by then?
Thanks in advance :)

If you are thinking of East coast Perhentian, Redang, Tioman etc Feb still a bit early though. However, some resorts do start operation in late Feb/early March. They use to give early birds offers/promotions for these months.
So, you get to enjoy cheap packages however the weather might still not be that great with choppy sea at certain time of the week, but you get to enjoy the vacant beaches all by yourself as crowd only started to flock in after April especially May (school holiday) :-)
