Hello,
I will be travelling from Thailand to Singapore by train, and was wondering about malaysian visa requirements. I will be arriving in malaysia around 7-8 days before i am due to fly out from Singapore, do i require a malaysian visa? i have read that i need an onward ticket out of malaysia, will the flight ticket from singapore count as an onward ticket? I`m a uk citizen.
Many thanks

malaysia and singapore are both the easiest countries in the whole of the region, nobody is gonna ask you about onward tickets
I've been through malaysia and singapore dozens of times, never ever did any immigration official ask about a ticket or money or anything...
so relax and enjoy your trip!

As a UK passport holder, you do not need a visa. You will be issued a 90-day free tourist card with a stamp in your passport upon arrival. I have entered Malaysia numerous times at the land border, Padang Besar, where you'll be crossing by train, and have never been asked to show an onward ticket. By chance, if you are asked to show a ticket, just show them your ticket from Singapore. The odds of your being asked, though, are one in a billion.

What is this tourist card of which you speak?

Just wait till you get to Malaysia.
Blondes or "westerners" get special treatment, good to very good one at that, to your advantage.
No fuss 90 days not even visa on arrival, its no visa needed, you get a 90 day stamp in passport, just like that.
UK to Malaysia & Singapore, its No Visa required.
#4, I think #3 is talking about the Immigration Form which we are required to complete when entering Malaysia. The Immigration Officer retains about 3/4 of the form and stamps an entry permit and staple a portion of the form (the tourists card) onto the passport. On leaving Malaysia, the "tourist card' is removed and exit stamp affixed on passport.

Not only blondes and westerers get special treatment. Citizens of the following get same treatment as the blondes: ALGERIA, ARGENTINA, BAHRAIN, BRAZIL, CUBA, EGYPT, JAPAN, JORDAN, KIRGYSTAN, KUWAIT, KYRGYZ REPUBLIC, LEBANON, NORTH YEMEN, OMAN, PERU, QATAR, SAUDI ARABIA, SOUTH AFRICA, SOUTH KOREA, TUNISIA, TURKMENISTAN, TURKEY, U.A.E, URUGUAY.

Hi there!
I'm an European citizen visiting Malaysia next February.
I would like to know
- how much are the fees for "3-month Tourist On Arrival Visa"
- if a "departure fee" is charged at KL airport
Thanks everybody for the help!
James

No fee for either.
www.kln.gov.my will list countries that have visa free entry status to Malaysia. I have a feeling that EU natnionaltiies do not need a visa to stay under three months. Its not even a visa on arrival, as no visa is needed.
If you want to stay more than 3 months, you can go to any Jabatan Immi and get an extension that way. That is when you might have to pay a fee, but at the airport, its straight forward. "Chop passport only". Chop is the Malaysian term for stamping.
Malaysia airports are the one that you have paid for all taxes, when you booked the flight to depart from. They don't add on taxes at the airport, unlike some airports around the world.
