Hi guys,

I'm going away for the weekend and there's cheap tickets to KK - I'm just finding myself a bit unsure of what exactly there is to do there. The city itself doesn't look overly appealing - what would people recommend in a 3 day trip there? Keen for some unique experiences - beaches, wildlife etc. Basically - whether its somewhere that's worth visiting in Malaysia.

I should add- I don't mind day trips etc, but unfortunately I'm not really up to doing an overnight hike of the mountain.

Thanks!

Check the Sabah section of my site: http://www.molon.de/galleries/Malaysia/Sabah/

There are the islands near KK, which are ok but not that great. Mantanani has better beaches and the tip of Borneo has good beaches as well. There are some wildlife options from KK (Garama river, the KK wetlands centre) but much better sites are around Sandakan, but you'd have to fly there from KK because with three days it makes no sense to spend one full day in a bus trip.

One of the least interesting Malaysian cities IMHO.

There is almost nothing of interest in the city itself. If you decide to go,then I'd agree with above...islands in the TAR for one day (easy and short boat trip)and one day walking the lower trails around MT KK NP.
