Hello,

Me and my two are friends are planning to travel from KL to Singapore tomorrow. I was just wandering what you guys have experienced and what you would recommend. As long as it is safe and doesn't take 24 hours we want it as cheap as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Hitchiking is the way to go. Split up in KL, meet up in Stinkapore.

Ted Turton: "They all drive with one hand in America ya know."
Terry McCann: "Wot thay do wiv the uvver one then?"
Ted: "They just look casual."

I usually take the bus.

Cheap,efficient and relatively fast.

The scenery is uninteresting, so it's a good chance to get some sleep....

Good luck hitchhiking to Stinkapore.. if your friends are lady friends.. not a good idea.. even for a guy.. u may get stung before u reach Stinkapore...

I would listen to the wise advice from lucapal...

Check budget airlines such as airsasia, silkair, and jetstar. The ticket could be far cheaper than bus. I bought an air ticket for next day flight from KL to Langkawi for US$11.

Otherwise, catch a bus which should be about 5-7 hours depending on traffics at the border. Roads and buses in Malaysia are quite good--the best in Southeast Asia (Singapore is better but it is just city).

Theres a couple of bus companies that have booths at KL Sentral and pick up passengers there. Otherwise you need to get the kommuter train to TSB, the bus station for buses to Singapore.
The first AA fare starts at $19.93 base fare up to $103.21.

Nobody is mentioning train. I travelled to Singapore by train from KL Sentral- 23:00-6AM. Sleeper car, super clean, you can smoke between the wagons and only 30Ringit. Border formalities were done fast with. So IMO trian is far better than the bus.You can buy ticket trough Malaysian railway internet site.

Train is an option.,but...

It doesn't go to (or from) Singapore centre
It is more expensive than the bus (not a lot,but more).Ok,you save a night's accommodation (but you can also do that on the bus if you want).
It is not very comfortable IMHO
It is slower and very often late
It is far less frequent than the buses.

What do you mean "not comfortable"? Sleeper coach is as comfortable as it can be and certainly more comfortable than bus. From train station to center it takes 30-40 minutes by metro/bus.Most luxurious bus with reclining seats costs twice as much.

The last bus we took in Malaysia had Lazyboy type seats. Wasnt much more than other buses I 'd take a bus like that over a day train any day.
Moot point at anyrate as OP will now be in Singapore.
