Hi, I'm travelling to Oz in January for 7months but have arranged a 2 day stop over in Kuala Lumpur to break up the flights a bit and also sneak in seeing an extra country!

Does anyone have any tips on good things to do and places to stay while I'm there? It's my first time travelling properly alone so I'm a little nervous but excited. All help and advice welcome!

Kay

What sort of lodgings, backpackers style etc? You interested in architecture, museums, handicrafts etc?

KL is a good place, it's very developed so you probably won't find it too overwhelming from a culture-shock point of view but there's enough character there to give you a taste. Go up the KL Tower for sunset, head to China town in the evening, go to the Batu Caves, check out the Petronas Towers to name a few possibilities.

See if you can download the TA app. My son used it for his last stay in KL for finding things to do.

How about an explanation for what amounts to link bait.

KL is quite modern, have good transport, and generally quite safe. English is widely used.

Check agoda and booking.com for accommodation idea. Chinatown and Bukit Bintang are 2 good places to based yourself for KL.

My goodness westwood, are you having a bad day?

That page is self-explaining. It shows what KL has to offer.

I'm currently planning my trip to Central Asia. I wish I could find a site like mine with so many images of the places. A picture is worth more than a thousand words.

We shouldn't have to click on a random link to see what its about. Read the guidelines about links. And I'm sure if you googled you'd find links to photographs by others.

Thanks everyone, really helpful! Good to know about the safety aspect and that English is widely used so hopefully I can't go too wrong in 2 days!

A few people have mention bunit bantang and Chinatown as good areas to base myself. Has anyone stayed in any good hotels in either area? I'm guessing transport from the airport is good?

Thanks x
