Several countries (e.g., UK, Canada, USA, Australia) have issued a travel advisory for eastern Sabah regarding terrorism. The areas to which the advisory applies include the resorts along the Kinabatangan river. Has anybody who has been there recently noticed an increased level of security by local officials along the Kinabatangan river that would indicate a potential threat?

My family and I are heading to Sukau Rainforest Lodge in a couple of weeks and I hope we don't have to reconsider our plans...

The curfew "... covers an area of about three nautical miles from shore until the international border with the Philippines ...", so the area around Sukau is not affected.

There has been a travel advisory on and off for years, and afaik there have been no problems in Sukau/Kinabatangan river area.......occasional problems on the coast (mostly with local people/Chinese nationals, rather than Western tourists).
