Hi, my boyfriend and I are flying into KL early August for 10 days. We want to mostly find a lovely beachy place, which hopefully has rainforest accessible as well. Where would you recommend that is easiest to travel to from KL? I have looked at Tioman Island but the journey is really a pain, so I wondered if there is somewhere else?

Not much with beach, forest and also easy the access from KL. ....Tioman is probably your best bet.

U can consider Redang Island. There's a flight going tot he island everyday.

Rainforrest is there but depends on what you're looking for in the rain forrest.

There is some rainforest practically on every Malaysian island, although not everywhere there are paths cut across the forest. Perhentian is an option, but also Lang Tengah has a short path across the island. Both can be accessed by plane+boat from KL:

There are also some very special places in Sarawak, but getting there from KL takes longer.

Perhentian. Fly to Kota Bharu, spend the rest of the day in KB and then taxi/boat combo the next morning to Perhentian.

I didn't like Tioman much. You could also investigate Langkawi - there are probably internal flights.

Redang is set up for local package tourists on 3-4 day snorkelling holidays.

Depends what you want. I personally loved Tioman, i went to Juara, which is the chilled less touristy side of the island. At the time there was one tiny shop & 4 or 5 restaurants & really not much to do but chill, snorkel, swim & eat & watch monkeys & the odd eagle. Still by far my favourite place in Malaysia, i went intending to stay 3 days & ended up staying 12 days! The journey is a pain but well worth it.
i absolutely hated Langkawi, ended up leaving after 2 nights. Beach was full of locals on jetskis & riding motorbikes up & down the beach & was really dirty.
Perhentian was lovely too but absolutely packed & everything was (relatively) expensive.
