Any guesthouse or small travel agent in Krabi will sell you a minibus ticket to the Malaysian border at Sungai Kolok (you will change minibuses in Hat Yai). From the border, most people catch a bus into Kota Bahru, stay the night and then catch another bus to the pier at Kual Besut. You can get a taxi directly to Besut from the border, but you will probably arrive too late for the last ferry anyway.
